PhantomData is a comment the compiler enforces(doc.rust-lang.org)

This matches what I saw, though my numbers were about half as dramatic.

Any numbers on the tail? Medians hide the part I care about.

Worth adding that this changed in the last release, so older guides mislead.

Ran into the same thing last month and solved it much less elegantly.
